Awakening
This is the chronicle of a real homelab, told in the order it happened. Each chapter — an Act — is a night, or a few, and carries its date. What was believed that night is written as it was believed, wrong turns included, and it is not edited afterwards to look wiser: if a later chapter finds an earlier one mistaken, the later chapter says so. The date is the disclaimer.
Read in order from the first Act, or arrive at any one of them cold — each is written to be landed on from a link. Where a chapter rests on something already explained in the garden, it links there rather than telling it again. The garden is Other Memory, where the same material is kept by association instead of by date. This is the story; that is what it gets built out of.
The name is from the old stories: the official chronicle of a long transformation, set down in order by a historian who did not make the records herself, so that someone arriving later could follow how it went.
Who writes this, and who owns the machines, is on the colophon.
